Book 7 - The last of a delightful, captivating series and, just like the earlier novels, it didn't disappoint. I had this one on pre-order but when it arrived, I left it sitting unread on my Kindle for 3 weeks! Oh yes, I wanted to read it but I also knew I would be saddened when I got to the last page and there wouldn't be another to look forward to.

Maddy's pregnancy is progressing well - and way faster than normal. She has had a few weeks to relax, get some much-needed sleep and enjoy having her new-found "family" members around her. Beezle still hasn't learned to eat politely (or moderately!), Daharan's has taken up the mantle of Master Chef (much to Beezle's delight!), Lock, Stock & Barrel have settled in as house pups and Nathaniel is…well… Nathaniel. However, Maddy knows that peace can only continue for so long - with all 4 brothers (Lucifer, Puck, Daharan & Alerian) awake and plotting humanity's downfall, it's only a matter of time before Chicago (and Earth) goes to hell in a hand basket. And it all starts with the arrival of a vicious, shadowy shifter.

Ms Henry, against all odds, has managed to tie up all the loose ends beautifully - right down to the mysterious identity of the "who" that may hold sway over the brothers. But… (isn't there always one)… the only loose end I'm still hmmm'ing about is Nathaniel. Perfect, gorgeous, self-centred, arrogant Nathaniel, who's life journey perhaps developed the most throughout the story, is revealed to be the honest, honourable, stalwart protector against Maddy's darkness, pregnancy - and, he hopes, her heart. Should he get the prize? Hmmmm *shrugs uncertainly*. Perhaps it was this single point that made me relook at how Ms Henry brought the ends together as it felt, to me at least, that in order to finish the series properly some things that would have naturally progressed were quickly pulled back and closed off a little prematurely.

If you enjoy clear, concise, straight-forward writing then you'll enjoy Ms Henry's style as much as I do. The words flow easily, the story line is easy to follow, the characters are real, warm people (well, Maddy's friends are at least :-)), the villains are selfish, thoughtless, and have no concept of mortality or all the moral trappings that come with it!

Overall an enchanting, action packed, heroic ride!!

Black Spring A Black Wings Novel Christina Henry 9780425266786 Books Reviews

I've enjoyed all the books in this series. I can only hope there will be more. The humor, the love, and the story arcs, always kept my attention. Wish I had a gargoyle like Beezle. I never put these books down until I complete them. Christina Henry and Nalini Singh are among my favorite authors. Please keep writing. Reading is my only addiction, and the best one people can have.
While this is a good ending to the series, there are still several areas that can be explored, should the author chose to revisit these characters. We are still left with questions about the board, the mother of Lucifer, etc., which could be explored; however, this is a nice wrap-up. Highly recommended.
There was a lot happening with this book. The author kept things moving and interesting and wrap it all up nicely. This series has plenty of action, humor and twists wuthout getting too confusing. I enjoyed every page.
I'll be honest with you, I read a couple of books that started the series and then my life became very complicated and I stopped. When I saw that "Black Spring" was the last in the series, L bought it. I just finished it--I forgot what an excellent writer, Christina Henry is. Her dialog is crisp, witty, and funny. Her story is intriguing, and characters are awesome! I'm going back to read the previous books I missed!!
This book has a lot of twists and turns that make it hard to follow at times, but it's a fantastic ending that's worth the journey. It's a good note to end the series on, but there's enough room for a little more. It looks like we're probably not getting more, but I keep hoping. . .
I loved it as I have every book in this series. Picked it up and couldn't put it down. Boom done in a day. Things pick up pretty much where the last book ended.

Maddy free more personally this go round. It was nice to see everyone assembled together and fight as a team. I don't want to say too much and reveal good tidbits.

I liked seeing the development in Maddy and Nathaniel's relationship. I shed a couple of tears but I think everything ended as it should.
It appears that this is the final book in the Black Wings series. I really loved this book. It was action packed & thrilling like riding a roller coaster. I couldn't put it down & stayed up until the wee hours of the morning. I will admit I shed a few tears, so make sure you have some tissues on hand. I definitely recommend this book to all. Make sure you read all the books in the series for a much greater impact as you bond to the characters. I'm sorry to see this series end. Hopefully the author will change her mind & continue the series into the future.
