SECRET ADMIRER was a chilling romantic suspense that I very much enjoyed. It's the story of a woman named Alice May, who discovers on her wedding day that not only has her fiancee been killed, but that he was also a twisted serial killer. Now a year later, Alice is holed up in a small cabin in the woods, living in both seclusion and fear... Zander Todd is an FBI agent working undercover to ferret out any and all of Alice May's secrets. But while doing his duty Zander does the unthinkable and ends up falling in love with his target. Unfortunately for the two of them, their passion for each other is what will ultimately send an obsessed stalker over the edge...I have to admit that my favorite type of romantic suspense almost always revolves around stalkers and serial killers, so this story was right up my alley. Then there was Alice and Zander, both of whom I completely adored and thought were not only perfect together but truly made for each other too. Their passion was hot and intense, and the two love scenes were well timed and overall just felt right. I hate to admit that some parts (including the killer) were pretty predictable though, which is the reason I knocked off one star. However, there was a nice twist I never saw coming, and overall it was a fast and thrilling read I wouldn't hesitate to recommend.
Pages & Kindle Locations: The story itself contained 218 of 221 pages and ended at 96% and location 1935 of 2019 on my kindle device.

Secret Admirer edition by Cynthia Eden Romance eBooks Reviews
What do you do when your fiancé is killed on his way to your wedding, a dead body is found in his car, and you are suspected of being his accomplice in the murders of 5 women? You move, for sure, and stop trusting anyone. Alice became a shell of her former self. She doesn’t know the FBI is watching her every move. And so is someone else!
A good who-done-it, a little predictable, but also does have some good surprises and twists to the storyline! A sweet romance rounds out the story. “Secret Admirer” by author Cynthia Eden is an enjoyable read.
This book pulled me in with the hook, the beginning scenes and the interesting story. It flowed really well with the beginning of the relationship between the hero and heroine. The relationship was progressing at a good pace, but, like most of Cynthia Eden books the sex happens too soon. By that I mean that the story hasn't really had time to develop, the hero and heroine's interaction together isn't very developed. I realize there is back story that is alluded to between them (he's been a handyman for her while she's been hiding from society in a cabin in the woods), but when the reader is brought into the story it seems like there is some dialog, a few separate scenes and then suddenly they're sleeping together. For me as a reader I would like a little more story to build up to this point but it seems to be one of the author's patterns she employs in all the books I've read by her so far.
Again, the story was interesting, the writing was good. It's a quick read and the story line is interesting. My only complaint is what was mentioned above, other than that I did enjoy the story, and would recommend it to someone else.
This was a nice return to a Mystery, and Suspense genre. Alice May, the bride left at the altar finds out that Hugh, her fiancee is a serial killer called "The Secret Admirer", and that the women killed look just like her. Alice May, moved to a small town hoping to start her life again, where no one knows her. Unfortunately the killings begin again, and the FBI believe Alice May is a partner in crime of the original serial killer. Enters the local handy man, Zander whose really an FBI agent trying to trap Alice. Things become complicated when Zander realizes he has feelings for Alice, and now the killer is after Alice. Fast paced action, and an unexpected twist in the story that I like.
An intense and exasperating story that had me on pins and needles throughout the novella. For the short length of the story, there was a lot of fierce action and danger fit into the tale.
The whole idea of the Secret Admirer killer, and the fact that is Alice had had such an intimate relationship with him, was just creepy kind of spookiness that can keep a reader up at night.
I liked Alice, she seemed to be a survivor, a true heroine, and a woman who had it together, most of the time, and admiringly, considering what she had gone through. She had kindness and understanding in her that went beyond most, and she had spunk and courage that was impossible not to notice and applaud for. I absolutely LOVED when she turned to the other FBI agent and told him that she did not appreciate his attitude or like him at all. You go, Alice!
FBI Agent Zander Todd was in a tough spot. He had lied, he had used Alice's trust to get into her life, to win her over, and in the process, lost his heart for her. Now, the tables are turning, it is Alice who is in danger, it is Alice who needs FBI, and it seems that the unit might not be up to the task to keep her and other victims of the Secret Admirer safe and alive. There's fumbling of the agents to protect those in the killer's way, while there's still doubt in some people's mind if Alice had something to do with the murders.
The connection and the romance between Alice and Zander have had time to develop over the months Zander has been undercover on the case and part of Alice's life. That time happens off the pages yet the referrals to it give a believable idea of the bond they have formed over the time.
The story was intense, it was fast-paced, and because of the novella length it didn't go as deeply into the characters, the issues, and the solving of the crimes as a full-length novel could have, but I enjoyed the story immensely. I sat down and read it at once, the story was engaging, the characters alluring, and the crimes chilling and fear-inducing.
An entertaining and enticing tale!
